Plan credits expire at the end of each billing period. If a render fails, the credits it spent are returned automatically.

Run out mid-month?
Top-up credits never expire. They cost more per credit than a plan does, so if you are topping up every month the cheaper answer is the next plan up — and we would rather say that here than sell you the wrong thing.
